melbourne girl charged after antisemitic driving rampage.

Victoria Police have charged a 13-year-old girl with 52 offences following a series of incidents targeting members of Melbourne’s Jewish community. Over multiple days, the girl allegedly drove stolen vehicles in Hampton, Ripponlea, Caulfield, and Brighton, while passengers shouted antisemitic remarks and threw objects at pedestrians. In Ripponlea, the vehicle was reportedly swerved towards a group crossing the road.

The offences also include an alleged hit-and-run in Brighton, where a 45-year-old cyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and an e-scooter collision in Elwood. Two other teenage females were also arrested and charged with related theft offences. The 13-year-old has been remanded to appear in children’s court.

In Victoria, victims of crime may be eligible to apply for support through the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS). The scheme can provide financial help for counselling, medical treatment, and other recovery-related costs.

Sending an enquiry can guide victims or their families in understanding the support available and how to begin the FAS application process after traumatic incidents.
