delahey attempted machete carjacking.

Police have charged a teenager following an alleged attempted aggravated carjacking in Delahey. Investigators allege a 44-year-old woman had parked at a shopping centre on Taylors Road when she felt a blade against her neck and shoulder. The teenager allegedly demanded her car keys before attempting to steal the vehicle. Two bystanders intervened and challenged the offender, who fled before later being arrested by police nearby.

Incidents involving weapons can have a lasting emotional impact on victims of crime, even where serious physical injury is avoided. Feelings of fear, hypervigilance and anxiety are common following traumatic events.

In Victoria, the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) may provide eligible victims with support for counselling, medical expenses and other recovery-related costs.

If you have been affected by a violent incident, sending an enquiry can help you understand what support may be available and whether you may be eligible to apply.
