Banyule-Nillumbik Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two teenagers following the alleged assault of a rideshare driver in Lower Plenty. Police allege a 39-year-old Doncaster man accepted a rideshare booking from Warrandyte before cancelling the trip shortly afterwards. After the four passengers exited the vehicle on Main Road, two of the youths allegedly assaulted the driver before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained a broken nose, facial swelling and bruising, requiring hospital treatment.
For many victims of crime, workplace violence can have lasting consequences beyond the physical injuries sustained. Victims often experience anxiety, fear returning to work and ongoing psychological distress. In Victoria, the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) may assist eligible victims with counselling, medical expenses and other recovery-related costs associated with violent offending.
If you have been affected by a violent incident, sending an enquiry can help you understand the support that may be available.
