Three people have suffered serious injuries during an alleged violent attack at a property in Tyers, in Victoria's Latrobe Valley, on 5 September 2026.

Emergency services were called to a property on Cowies Road at about 12.30pm after reports that two men and a woman had been seriously assaulted. A 76-year-old man and a 47-year-old man were airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 74-year-old woman was also taken to hospital with critical injuries. All three were reported to be in stable condition following treatment. Police conducted an extensive search for a 48-year-old Tyers man, who was allegedly known to the three victims. He was located near Tyers-Walhalla Road on 8 September 2026 and subsequently charged with three counts of intentionally causing serious injury. He was remanded in custody.

For people recovering from a serious violent assault, the consequences can extend well beyond the initial medical treatment. Victims of violent crime may be able to seek financial assistance through the Financial Assistance Scheme for medical costs, counselling costs, loss of earnings, damaged/lost clothing costs, safety-related costs and other recovery-related costs in exceptional circumstances.
