Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged armed robbery and machete attack in Wantirna that left a teenage boy with multiple injuries.
The incident occurred at JW Manson Reserve on Selkirk Avenue on 20 June 2026 when the then 17-year-old victim was allegedly approached by two unknown males while riding an e-bike. Police allege the offenders attacked him without warning and pushed him from the bike. As the teenager attempted to escape, one of the offenders allegedly struck him from behind with a machete, causing a deep wound to his shoulder.
The victim managed to reach Selkirk Avenue, where a passerby called emergency services. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later required surgery for at least three wounds, spending four days in hospital. Police allege the offenders stole his e-bike, valued at approximately $10,000, and his mobile phone. Investigators have released CCTV and images of two men they believe may assist with their enquiries.
