A 58-year-old man remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries following an alleged assault and stabbing in South Yarra.

Emergency services were called to Malvern Road at approximately 12.20am on Sunday 9 August 2026 after reports of a man suffering head injuries. Police allege the victim had been assaulted before being stabbed.

The St Kilda man was transported to hospital for treatment. Police later arrested a 38-year-old South Yarra woman at a nearby property on Howitt Street. She has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury and failing to comply with a direction to assist. Police believe the parties are known to each other.
