A mother and her 10-year-old son were taken to hospital following an alleged violent attack near the intersection of Spencer Street and La Trobe Street in Melbourne.
Police allege the 10-year-old boy was punched to the upper body at about 1pm on 25 August 2026. A 46-year-old woman from Cowes, who was with the boy, intervened and was allegedly stabbed to the upper body. Both were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 27-year-old man was arrested nearby, and police seized a pair of scissors. He has since been charged with offences including affray, intentionally causing injury, unlawful assault and conduct endangering life. Police said the parties were not known to each other.
