man shot in broadmeadows.
A 31-year-old man was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot injury after a shooting in Central Avenue, Broadmeadows, on 7 October 2026. Police were told the incident followed a verbal altercation with a man sitting inside a parked sedan. The driver allegedly fired a shot before leaving the area. The injured man required hospital treatment.
A violent incident like this can have lasting consequences. The victim may need follow-up medical care, counselling or time away from work, while also managing the emotional effects of being exposed to serious violence.
The Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) may provide financial assistance to eligible victims of violent crime. Depending on the circumstances, this may include reasonable medical expenses, counselling costs, loss of earnings, safety-related expenses, damaged/lost clothing costs and other recovery-related expenses.
If you have been injured in a shooting or another violent incident, you do not need to wait for a criminal case to conclude before exploring whether assistance may be available. An enquiry can help clarify the application process, the supporting information required and the financial assistance on offer.
