Two staff members were present when an alleged armed robbery occurred at a licensed venue on Grey Street, Traralgon, on 5 August 2026.

Victoria Police allege that a 28-year-old man entered the venue shortly before 11pm armed with a knife and a bottle of flammable liquid. Police allege he accessed the cash registers and stole cash before pouring the liquid over the floor, registers and bar area. The man allegedly slipped in the liquid while fleeing, dropping some of the cash. The two staff members inside the premises were not physically injured. The man was subsequently arrested in New South Wales and extradited to Melbourne. He has been charged with armed robbery and other offences and is scheduled to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

Even where a person has not sustained physical injury, experiencing a violent or threatening incident can have a significant psychological impact. Eligible victims of violent crime may be able to apply to the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) for financial assistance for treatment and safety-related expenses.
