Police have arrested a man following an alleged assault on an 82-year-old man in Ferntree Gully, with investigators alleging the victim was attacked twice after asking an e-scooter rider to slow down.
The incident occurred on 6 July 2026 on the Blind Creek Trail. Police allege the victim was verbally abused after asking the man to slow down, before being pushed to the ground and assaulted multiple times. Police further allege the offender returned and assaulted the man again on Rankin Road before fleeing on an e-scooter. The 82-year-old victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 21-year-old man was arrested at an address in Scoresby on 19 August and is expected to face assault charges.
