Victoria Police have laid further charges under Operation Eclipse, the ongoing investigation targeting organised criminal groups linked to violent offending across Melbourne.
Police allege a 20-year-old Essendon man coordinated a number of serious offences, including aggravated home invasion, kidnapping, extortion, attempted arson and recruiting children to engage in criminal activity. The investigation remains ongoing as specialist detectives continue targeting those responsible for organising violent offending.
Serious organised crime can have devastating consequences for victims of crime, their families and local communities. Beyond physical injuries, many people experience lasting emotional trauma and financial hardship.
In Victoria, eligible victims may be able to seek assistance through the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS). The scheme may provide financial support for counselling, medical treatment and other recovery-related expenses arising from violent crime.
Sending an enquiry can help you better understand whether you may be eligible for assistance and what the application process involves.
