continued community safety concerns amid crime spike.

Recent reports from Victoria Police and community sources indicate an uptick in violent incidents across popular public spaces in Melbourne, including aggravated assaults and threats involving weapons. Community leaders and law enforcement have reaffirmed commitment to public safety, urging witnesses to report incidents and assisting victims with appropriate support services. These developments form part of broader public safety challenges in the city during the holiday season, with authorities increasing patrols and investigative focus.

Individuals harmed in violent incidents should be aware that the Victorian Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) exists to help victims recover some of the financial impacts of crime. Eligible applicants can apply for assistance for trauma-related costs, including medical treatment, counselling, and safety improvements.

Submit an online enquiry if you have been the victim of a violent crime in Victoria.
