Police are investigating a frightening incident in Brunswick East where a restaurant owner was allegedly threatened with a machete while confronting a man attempting to steal his vehicle.

The incident occurred behind a restaurant on Lygon Street when the business owner noticed a man attempting to break into his car. After confronting the alleged offender, the situation escalated when the man produced a machete and allegedly lunged towards him. The victim escaped without physical injury, however later described feeling traumatised by the experience.
