another youth machete attack in melbourne cbd.

Police have charged several teenagers following two separate machete-related incidents in Melbourne's CBD on the same night.

The first incident allegedly occurred on Elizabeth Street, where a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured during a robbery involving a group of teenagers armed with machetes. Later that morning, a second altercation escalated into another machete attack, leaving two men with serious arm and hand injuries. Multiple people have since been charged as investigations continue.

Incidents involving weapons in busy public places have a profound impact on both the direct victim as well as witnesses who experience traumatic events unexpectedly.

In Victoria, eligible victims of violent crimes may be able to apply for support through the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS). Amongst other things, the scheme can provide financial assistance for treatment, including counselling, medical and other recovery-related expenses.

If you have been affected by a violent incident, sending an enquiry so that we can help you better understand the support available and whether you would be eligible to apply.
