who is eligible for fas in victoria?

The Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) is available to people who have been affected by violent crime in Victoria. This includes not only primary victims, but in some cases also witnesses, family members, and dependants of someone who has died, or significantly injured physically or psychologically as a result of an offence.

Eligibility depends on a number of factors, including the nature of the offence, the relationship to the incident, and whether the matter was reported to police within a reasonable time. Each situation is different. Some victims may be entitled to assistance for counselling or medical costs, while others may qualify for additional forms of support depending on the impact of the crime.

Understanding your eligibility can help you make informed decisions about the next steps.

If you or someone close to you has been affected by a violent crime, it may be worth exploring whether you are eligible to apply for financial assistance through FAS.
