a violent home invasion in Kew East, Melbourne, left a 39-year-old father with serious injuries after being attacked with a machete at his family home on Oxford Street at around 4 am on Sunday, 17 August 2025. The father suffered multiple stab wounds, including a fractured arm. His wife, two young children, and elderly parents were also injured, though their injuries were less severe.

Victoria Police have arrested three alleged offenders  a 16-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy, and a 24-year-old man - and charged them with aggravated home invasion, intentionally causing serious injury, and false imprisonment. Detectives have stated that at least two additional suspects remain outstanding. The case has been described as a disturbing example of knife crime and youth violence in Melbourne.
