melbourne carjacking investigation.

Police are investigating a violent carjacking in Melbourne after a woman was allegedly threatened during an early morning vehicle theft. Reports indicate a bystander who attempted to assist was also threatened before the offenders fled the scene.

Incidents involving violent theft and threats with weapons can leave significant emotional and psychological impacts on victims of crime, particularly where victims fear for their personal safety during the offending.

Carjackings and aggravated robberies continue to contribute to growing concerns regarding violent offending across Victoria, particularly incidents involving youth offenders and organised groups.

In Victoria, the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) may assist eligible victims with counselling, medical treatment and other recovery-related support following violent crime.

If you have been affected by a violent incident, sending an enquiry can help explain the support available and how to begin an application process.
