fawkner station weapon incident.

Police are investigating a violent incident at Gowrie Railway Station in Fawkner after commuters were allegedly assaulted and racially abused on the platform during the afternoon peak period. It is alleged the offender was in possession of a hammer and a knife during the incident. A male commuter sustained a hand injury after being struck with a hammer before the offender fled the scene.

Public transport-related violence can have a significant impact on victims of crime, particularly where incidents occur in crowded or confined public environments. The Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) may provide support for counselling, medical treatment, and other recovery-related costs following violent crime.

If you have been affected by a public transport assault or similar incident, an enquiry can help you understand your eligibility and the process for accessing assistance.
