expansion of police patrols in response to violent crime.

In recent weeks, the Victorian Government extended Operation Pulse, which saw an increase in police and Protective Service Officer patrols across major shopping centres, after the data reflected a decline in violence and aggression. The initiative has delivered outcomes in shopping centres including Northland, Eastland, Highpoint and Fountain Gate.

While the increased presence aims to deter crimes and violence in shopping centres, such as stabbings and assaults, these issues continue to impact Victorians each day. If you have been physically or psychologically harmed by a violent offence, you may be eligible to seek financial support.

In Victoria, victims of crime can apply for assistance under the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) to cover costs that may be instrumental to a victim’s physical and psychological recovery. These include counselling, medical treatment, and other safety-related expenses. If you are unsure how to proceed or what your entitlements may be, submitting an enquiry can help you navigate the application process.
