Police have charged a 41-year-old woman following an alleged aggravated burglary and subsequent assault in Geelong.

 

Officers were called to a property on Ryrie Street around 9.30am after reports that a woman had entered the rear residence of a church and stolen car keys and personal items. It is alleged the woman then stole a nearby Volkswagen Caddy and drove along Melbourne Road in Rippleside, where she became involved in a road rage incident. Police allege the victim exited their vehicle after pulling over and was subsequently assaulted.

 

The woman was arrested shortly after and charged with aggravated burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and conduct endangering life. She has been remanded to appear before the Geelong Magistrates’ Court. Even where physical injuries are minor, incidents involving burglary, theft and assault can leave victims feeling unsafe and distressed.
