police charge man after southeast crime spree.
Detectives from the Casey Crime Investigation Unit have charged a 28‑year-old man with more than 15 offences following a series of thefts and aggravated burglaries across Melbourne’s south‑east suburbs, including Doveton, Highett, Cheltenham, and Glen Waverley.
Police allege the man attended multiple properties between January and March. On 31 March, officers attended an address in Cranbourne East as part of the investigation. The man barricaded himself inside the property and was subsequently arrested with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team. He faces charges including aggravated burglary with a firearm, theft of motor vehicles, criminal damage, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, and multiple bail and driving offences.
Incidents such as these can have a lasting impact on victims, affecting their sense of safety and causing emotional stress. In Victoria, victims of crime may be eligible to apply for financial support through the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS). The scheme can assist with counselling, medical treatment, and other recovery‑related costs.
Submitting an enquiry can provide victims with practical guidance and help clarify the support available, including the process for making an FAS application
